Monterey Aquarium & Santa Cruz #1227
by Jane Sbragia -Tour Leader
"I just got back from leading a trip to Monterey and Santa Cruz. We were so busy because we had a small, very verbal group who had all sorts of ideas for fun things to do in the area. This was a little different for me because many of the travelers knew the area and it became a real "nostalgia trip". A traveler named Frank, who I consider one of our true gentlemen travelers, is very easygoing and somewhat quiet but on this trip he really opened up and reminisced. He is in his mid-sixties and he had been very close to his mother and had grown up in the Monterey bay area. Whatever he talked about remembering doing with his mother we tried to recreate and I think it was special to him. He talked about doing the Roaring Camp steam train with his mother, and even though it wasn't on our itinerary we did it. He remembered walking in the redwoods with his mother, so we did the nature trail at Henry Cowell State Park. He remember sitting by the sea wall at the beach in Capitola so they would be "out of the wind". Well, where do you think we had our final pizza party and award ceremony, yep, right in front of that sea wall in Capitola!" Please remember that you can download these photos to your computer or you can order prints from this Phanfare website. They also have other items you can order like mugs, photo books, calendars, etc. Just click on the Prints & Gifts link on the right side of this page when you are ready to order.
